The First Days of School
The first week of school is a crucial time in setting the tone for the remainder of the year. Through careful planning and thoughtful design, a successful first week can build the foundation for classroom culture and community. Through this course you will develop a plan for the first week of school, which will include preparing your environment and getting to know your students before they walk through the door, and essential lessons and activities to get your year started positively and effectively.
Designed and facilitated by Jigsaw Learning Associate Kathleen Robertson, this series is intended to enhance skills and is not a substitute for a certificated program. Credits will not be granted nor is this learning series transferable to any other learning institution. Upon completion of this learning series, participants will be able to print a Certificate of Completion for their records.

Meet the instructor
Kathleen Robertson
Kathleen Robertson has more than 20 years of teaching experience and has successfully led literacy intervention, assessment and coaching in her own school also providing support to other schools when planning and designing their implementation of a comprehensive literacy framework. Her expertise in literacy has been developed through her roles as a classroom teacher, participant as a lead teacher on a literacy committee and most recently in her role as instructional and literacy coach at the Elementary level.
