The course is broken down into six modules, and is designed as an introductory course for teachers who are new to online instruction. After completing the course you will be able to understand the process of transitioning to online instruction, demonstrate how to support learners online, discover how to build content for online learners, explore various assessment techniques for online instruction and understand the importance of course data and evaluation.

Meet the instructor

Colin Byers

Colin brings with him over 20 years of educational technology, multimedia development, and pedagogical experience. Colin has worked with the Government of Canada, The City of Kelowna, Alberta Health Services, Olds College, Royal Roads University, Contact North and many other clients to establish e-learning courses and other online instructional resources. Colin also has teaching experience in several schools in Aspen View, Rocky View and Pembina Hills, in the areas of Media Arts, Drama, and English, as well as serving as a Lead Teacher and Program Coordinator in two different high schools during that time. Colin also has a post-graduate certificate in Instructional Design, and is completing a Graduate Diploma in Educational Technology and Master's Degree in in Open, Digital, and Distance Education. He brings a diverse range of skills and experiences related to instructional technology integration, online course design and e-learning.
